Neighborhood

Quiet, residential mountain neighborhood made up largely of vacation cabins and year‑round homes in the Charter Hills area of Beech Mountain. The town is the highest incorporated municipality in the eastern US and is centered on winter recreation (Beech Mountain Resort ski area and ice rink), summer hiking and mountain scenery. Short drives take you to Banner Elk and Boone for restaurants, grocery stores, ski shops, and seasonal events.

Driving is the primary and most practical way to get around; mountain roads (NC 184/Beech Mountain Parkway and connecting state highways) are the main access routes. During winter, 4‑wheel drive or snow chains are commonly recommended and road conditions can change rapidly. Public transit options are very limited—most visitors rent a car or use regional shuttle services during ski season. Nearest towns for services and transit connections are Banner Elk (south/east) and Boone (southwest). Rideshare coverage is spotty; plan private transfers in advance for arrival/departure.
